Primary 4 PE!

In PE we have been working on physical fitness. Thinking about strength and cardiovascular fitness as well as flexibility.

Well done Primary 4 – some of the best burpees i have ever seen!

Due to a change in our timetable, our PE slots will be on a Thursday and Friday now. Please ensure that you have gym kits in as we will be inside.

Thanks

The Twits Literacy

Today we were using our class novel to work on our Dictionary skills. We picked out some words from The Twits and ordered them into alphabetical order.

Then we used the dictionary to find the definitions of the words. Some of the words weren’t in the junior dictionary so we used the online dictionary.

Well done Primary 4, you worked together really well.

Photos to follow!

Rockets Launching!

Today was exciting! We took part in a science activity where we made our own rockets.

With an effervescent vitamin tablet, water and a film canister we were able to make the rockets launch into the air due to the build up of pressure.

We worked out that the more tablet within the canister the higher and faster the canister will fly up, like a rocket!

Unfortunately we were too busy to get many photos.

Well done P4!

Our week of Learning!

Although a short week it’s been a busy one.

In Literacy we have been carrying on with “The Twits.” Among other activities we have been thinking of adjectives to describe Mr and Mrs Twit and then made mind maps with similies. Some of them included;

“As rude as a pig!

“A beard as spiky as a hedgehog!”

“They smell as bad as a sewer!”

“As dirty as mud!”

Well done P4!

In health and well-being we have been focusing on kindness and friendships, designing compliment kites and giving our classmates compliments. We also worked on our friendships and relationships by playing team building games in PE.

Ms Ross was also with us on Thursday afternoon and we had a lesson on moral dilemmas which prompted some very interesting discussions on our moral compasses and how we can follow them.

Lots of letters went home today including;

  • Parents night information letters – please not parents nights for P4 will be on Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Dates for the diary
  • Bike to school week information
  • MOlMUDder information
  • MOLMUDder sponsorship forms

Please have a look through your child’s bag/homework pack for details.

Thanks for a successful week P4! Have a fantastic weekend. 😃

Kindness and Compliments ðŸ˜ƒ

Today, Primary 4 made some kites. We then flew them round the classroom to music. When the music stopped we wrote a compliment on our classmate’s kite.

It was lovely to see all the kind words the class had to say about each other and the smiles were beaming!

We are going to finish our kites tomorrow and pop them on the window for everyone to see and to provide a nice reminder, if we ever need it, of how highly our classmates think of us!

Well done Primary 4 for “throwing kindness like confetti!”

A plea…

Please could reading books come in everyday to allow us to do reading tasks with them in class. For this term they will continue to be sent home on the Friday to be returned on the Wednesday. (As the books get bigger they may last two weeks!)

There are also some of Primary 4 without indoor shoes. It is important to have indoor shoes to keep our classroom clean and dry on wet days like today so if your child does not have some please send some with them.

Many thanks 😃

Brilliant start to the week!

We have had a super start to our learning this week! Ask your child about our Zig and Zog problem solving, we have been writing descriptions about ourselves using lots of adjectives and we have been finding out about recycling crisp packets….watch this space for more info! 🙂

As per the letter sent home last week, we are still on the look out for any lego or construction toys you may have finished with, or some comfy cushions for our reading area. We would also like to encourage all our children to have a home/school reader; this can be a fiction novel or non-fiction book of interest, which your child can read independently in class. The closest library is located at Inshes Primary School and has a vast range of genres suitable for your child.

See you all at the class open afternoon on Friday @ 2pm. Enjoy the rest of your week!
